Registration Opens for SLSA Solace Dreams Longboard Series

You can now register for the fourth event in the 2013 Season One Second Life Surfing Association’s (SLSA) competitions.

Dates: May 18th (Open) and May 25th (Pro) at 11:00 AM SLT
Wave: Maoli Tahiti
Board: SSi Longboard, 5.1, 5.2, 5.2dlg

You can register by visiting the SLSA Forums. Registration will be open until midnight SLT, Tuesday, May 13th. There must be at least 30 people registered, for the both the Open and the Pro to be held. If less than 30 people register the events will be combined into one to be held on April 20th. Top 20 ranked surfers, you still need to register! Your registration into the event is not automatic. This event is open to any SLSA member, even if you have never competed before (you will be competing in the Open event).

SLSA Easter FUNdraiser

The SLSA Directors, Lauren and Nico put on a really fun afternoon’s activities, both as a social event and as a fundraiser for the SLSA SIM, Solace Dreams.

It all started a week or so ago when the Easter Surf Hut Decorating Contest was announced, and some spirited and creative decorating was made, together with a hotly contested voting session.

Apart from the contestants, the organisers did a great job too, with the creation of Surfing Bunzilla, and a guest appearance from Mega-Peep. 🙂

The results of the decorating vote were; equal 3^rd to Mick and Sienna, 2^nd place to Sally and 1^st Prize to Sunny and the Montego team 🙂

On Saturday afternoon activities kicked off with an Easter egg hunt which took participants all over Solace Dreams and Tsunami.

More Egss are (still) hidden on Chi and at Rachel’s Laguna Gallery site. [Edit Open then Copy Contents, when you find an egg for some nice prizes].

There was also an Easter Egg Fight and hence the SLSA Bunny ‘shields’ you can see in a lot of the pictures 🙂

There was a pop vote for best decorated Easter Egg with, 3^rd place to Maryann Maa, 2^nd to Dax Verlaine and 1^st to Sally.

MC n DJ Nico then spun some great tunes and we had a fun dance session on the beach at Solace Beach. While keeping one eye on the action at Bell’s beach !

Peeps also had a go on the Easter Egg Dodgem rides, and had some shell cracking fun with that 🙂

Finally a vote for best Easter costume was held and the results were 3^rd Sally, 2^nd Lauren and 1^st Sunny (Bunny) Mornington!! 🙂

Lots of people drifted in and out over the course of the day and it was a good turn out for a holiday weekend.

A little birdy whispered that over 17,000 L was raised through all the activities, and that is a great result, for the SLSA!

I think the organisers did a wonderful job, with the whole event, and kudos to them.
