SLSA+logo1Meet Your Candidates for Two Vacancies on the Board of Directors to be filled by an election on September 1, 2015!

An election for 2 SLSA Director Positions will be held on September 1st, using a voting machine on Solace Dreams just outside the SLSA Clubhouse.

If you are an eligible voter (i.e., you have competed in one of the last 6 events or volunteered in one of the last 3 events or are a hall of fame inductee), you will receive a notice when voting is open.

We sincerely wish to thank each of the following candidates, who graciously and selflessly have chosen to stand for election on June 1st. We thank these candidates for their community spirit and willingness to serve. They all deserve our appreciation. Each of the following statements was prepared by the respective candidates.

My name is Vally (valium) Lavender and I am willing and able to serve a full six-month term on the SLSA Board of Directors. I am affiliated in name only to Lucky 13 Surf Team as they have made a home-base at my sim. I no longer competitively surf. I also have my own line of surfboards – C-3 Valium Surfboards which I sell at my sim only. I own Lavender Moon 1 and Lavender Moon 2, one being a full sim and two being a homestead sim….with both being surf sims.

My background in Second Life consists of being inworld for nine consecutive years and during that time owning 20 surfing sims. I have a lot of experience deal with surfers and sponsors, and am a proud sponsor myself. I try to support the lifestyle by living it myself. I was a real life surfer during my high school early college years. I have had a 25 yr. real life career in nation-wide fund raising such as capital campaigns, annual campaigns, grant writing, and corporate sponsorships.

My vision for the SLSA is that we continue with the good job we are doing and find little ways to improve taking into consideration what the members would like to see. Treating all with fairness and equitable treatment.

Name: Daphne Yardley-Wayward
Team: Lucky 13
Outside of Surfing: I cheer for SLCS Cheerleaders, I help run SLCS Airlines and I’m blocker for M.Inc.Riot Bitches of the Second Life Roller Derby Association.

My vision:
I think my vision for SLSA to expand it and make it more visible across grid. WIth the visibility, it can bring more sponsors to our competitions. Also organizing concerts with tribute bands and having parties will help our brand grow and attract more people that never have surf before.

I commit to serve a 6 month term.
I GiavannaMarie Melody would like to run for the open director position within the SLSA. I am willing to serve the full term. I was previously the Co Captain of Reef Riders and now a current surfer for Tai Chi surf team.

I have previously served 4 terms as a director and believe that I can be an asset to the current board. My past goals as a SLSA director was to find new sponsors, setup surf events, as well as vote on numerous proposals to help further the growth of the SLSA. One of my earliest objectives as a director was to allow for new board types to be used in competitions. I had to leave SL for a while due to family, but to come back 3 years later and see that this vision I had has finally come to this great organization had made me happy to see finally take place.

My hopes going forward would still be the same. To find new and innovative ways to grow our great organization. I love working with everyone and look have a great work ethic to bring to the table.

~Gia Melody
